2. What is a Wammo?
A Wammo, quite simply, is an Idiot. It used to be the case within Guild Wars that a Wammo was simply a combination of Warrior and Monk. This term, however, became more and more derogatory as the game progressed, as it became more and more associated with those Warriors who would act like idiots within a team. Warriors then became famed for using maintainable enchantments including [[Live Vicariously] and of course the infamous [[Mending]. A Classic Wammo believes that skills such as these will give them greater enhanced Tanking prowess.
Recently the term “Wammo” has been used to describe many players out with the classic Warrior/Monk profession combination, as well as being applied to verbs in order to describe someone’s actions. You may have heard the terms “Wammo charging” and “Wammoing about”. These “new age” Wammos may be classic Wammos who have simply decided to try a different profession combination for a change, and hence their behaviour stands out as “Wammo”, but noone can really say for sure. Such animosity is a curse of the Internet.

3. Wammo Behaviour
Wammos are well known for several dumb actions and characteristics:- Tanking Prowess. Wammos tank. Mending allows them to tank, whilst [[Frenzy] allows them to deal as much damage as is possible with their Req. 7 Crystalline Sword. The best Wammos (or “Tankers” as they sometimes insist on being called) can tank as many as two foes for several…seconds before needing the help of a Monk.
- Monk Hate. This is a common trait of Wammos. Due to their vulnerability in the field thanks to the use of several Superior Runes, their delusion that Mending will save them every time is unfounded. Due to this, they rely on Monks to keep them patched up and in battle. When the Monk inevitably fails due to Mr. Wammo taking too much damage, the Wammo hurls abuse at the Monk, often telling that it “sucks” and it needs to “lrn2play noob”.
- Over Aggro. Wammos over-aggro. They can’t help it. Several branches of research have been carried out on why Wammos over-aggro and no conclusive reasoning has yet been drawn up. Some have suggested reasons as to why Wammos cannot help but over aggro, such as tunnel vision, meaning a Wammo never sees the bigger picture in terms of the battlefield, or excessive listening to “Eye of the Tiger” whilst charging into battle has been said to reduce battlefield awareness.
- Excessive use of Healing Prayers. Wammos adore Healing Prayers. Now, there is nothing wrong with Healing Prayers per se, but the choices Wammos make cause the problems. [[Mending] and [[Live Vicariously] are both Healing Prayers Maintainable Enchantments, and also [[Healing Breeze] and [[Vigorous Spirit], are all popular choices. The continual healing is seen as a great benefit to Wammos as it soaks up any of the damage they take when displaying their Tanking Prowess.

4. Wammo Builds
We will now look at some popular Wammo builds. While there are variations from build to build, it should be noted that the type of build will still be pretty obvious, even to newbie Wammo hunters.
[build prof=W/Mo name="Classic Wammo Tank" box sword=8+3 str=12+1+3 healing=10 desc="Weapon #1: The Biggest Sundering Sword money can buy{br}Weapon #2: Moar Sundering 1337ness"][Frenzy][Hundred Blades][Griffon's Sweep][I Will Avenge You][Healing Signet][Healing Breeze][Live Vicariously][Mending][/build]
[build prof=W/Mo name="Wammo Riposte Spammer" box sword=7+3 str=12+1+3 healing=8 tactics=8+3][Frenzy][Gladiators' Defense][Riposte][Deadly Riposte][Healing Signet][Healing Breeze][Live Vicariously][Mending][/build]
[build prof=W/Mo name="Classic Wammo Echo Mender" box sword=8+3 str=12+1+3 healing=10][Frenzy][Power Attack][Leviathan's Sweep][Healing Signet][Healing Breeze][Arcane Echo][Echo][Mending][/build]
[build prof=W/Mo name="Symbolic Strike Wammo" box healing=8 str=12+1+3 smiting=10][Frenzy][Signet of Judgment][Bane Signet][Healing Signet][Symbolic Strike][Vigorous Spirit][Dolyak Signet][Mending][/build]
[build prof=W/Mo name="Healing Hands Wammo" box healing=12 str=10+1+3 sword=8+1][Frenzy][Healing Signet][Power Attack][Griffon's Sweep][Leviathan's Sweep][Healing Hands][Healing Breeze][Mending][/build]

5. Hunting Wammos in PvE
In order to hunt Wammos in PvE, one must be vigilant. By watching other players, and sounding out how people react to certain comments you can very quickly determine who is a true Wammo.
The first people to watch, naturally, are the Warrior/Monks. Are there any in your party? Try pinging your weapon. Go on, do it now. Did anyone reciprocate? Was it the W/Mo? How many times did he ping his weapon? If it was several times you’ve got yourself a Wammo right there. If it was just the once, he was probably just being friendly, but it’s always best to be sure.
Try pinging your skill bar next. Does the W/Mo respond by pinging his? If he does, check it. Does it look anything like the builds shown in Section 4.? If it does, you’ve got yourself a Wammo.
So, you’ve detected your Wammo before battle. Good on you. Now you know where to focus your ridicule during the upcoming mission. So, let’s take a look at some situations which may arise in battle:
- Wammo over-aggros by running up to two very close mobs instead of waiting for them to be pulled toward your group. Click on the Wammo, and find out if he’s using Sprint. If he is, ping it for the group. Closely follow this by typing “omg Wammo Charge!” in Team Chat.
- Wammo is seen casting [[Mending]. Click on the Wammo and ping several times in Team Chat that he is using Mending. If you’re feeling clever, more Advanced Wammo Hunters prep themselves by copying the phrase “{Insert Wammo Name} is using Echo!”, and copy that to team chat just before pinging the use of Mending. Be very careful to make sure you spell the Wammo’s name correctly, as failure to do so can be a rookie move.
- Wammo dies and begins to curse at the Monk. Stand up for your Monk. I’m sure they do a great job most of the time, and just because they can’t keep tattie head healed with his 3 superior strength runes doesn’t make them bad. Tell the Wammo he is silly for having died, and that the Monk is great. Urge everyone else in the party to do the same, this will help to outnumber the Wammo, and comfort the Monk.

6. Hunting Wammos in PvP
Ok, This is where the fun really begins. PvP offers you the opportunity to really hunt Wammos, and the best thing is, every class can do it. This section of the guide will discuss techniques which can be employed to “hunt” Wammos, while subsequent sections will discuss skills and builds which can be employed to aid you in your hunt.
Wammos can easily be spotted in PvP Arenas. They love to travel alone, more often than not, as this gives them the ability to practice solo-tanking other human players and to “solo noobs 1v1”. A Wammo never passes up the opportunity to go 1v1 as they are always convinced that their build will win out.
In disorganised PvP arenas such as Alliance Battles, you should always be prepared for a one-on-one encounter with a Wammo, because as a Wammo hunter, it is your duty to always be ready to battle such a player. Let’s consider the 4 usual types of Wammos who can be found within the Alliance Battle environment.
1. Classic Wammo Tank
[build prof=W/Mo name="Classic Wammo Tank" box sword=8+3 str=12+1+3 healing=10 desc="Weapon #1: The Biggest Sundering Sword money can buy{br}Weapon #2: Moar Sundering 1337ness"][Frenzy][Hundred Blades][Griffon's Sweep][I Will Avenge You][Healing Signet][Healing Breeze][Live Vicariously][Mending][/build] This breed is possibly one of the more deadly out there. Well, I say “deadly”. What I actually mean is, if he’s with a party member who can strip enchantments, [[Guardian] might not quite keep you safe. But let’s assume the worst doesn’t happen. There are various methods of dealing with this one. Blinding him, blocking him, laying the smack down when he’s fighting under Frenzy, and enchantment stripping, to name but a few. Remember, he thinks Mending will keep him safe – We all know he’s away with the fairies. Use this “inside knowledge” to your advantage.
2. Wammo Riposte Spammer
[build prof=W/Mo name="Wammo Riposte Spammer" box sword=7+3 str=12+1+3 healing=8 tactics=8+3][Frenzy][Gladiators' Defense][Riposte][Deadly Riposte][Healing Signet][Healing Breeze][Live Vicariously][Mending][/build] This can be a tricky one. He’s generally very harmless. He doesn’t feel it’s worth keeping many points in swordsmanship and certainly doesn’t think Dragon Slash is worth bring along. These Wammos make the rookie move of believing that people will attack them, and slowly kill themselves through his Riposte spam. Of course, the only other player likely to do this is another Wammo. So how do we deal with him? Well, for one, if you’re Melee, just leave him alone. So long as you have some kind of self-heal, you’re save enough, just ignore him. For everyone else, he’s an easy target. Don’t forget to strip that Mending! Stripping Mending causes panic and this may force him to make fatal errors.
3. Classic Wammo Echo Mender
[build prof=W/Mo name="Classic Wammo Echo Mender" box sword=8+3 str=12+1+3 healing=10][Frenzy][Power Attack][Leviathan's Sweep][Healing Signet][Healing Breeze][Arcane Echo][Echo][Mending][/build] Yes, it does exist. There is no way to counter this unless you have a Mesmer. Mesmers just need to select 8 skills at random and whisper the Wammo saying "lulz". Wammo will then go "/resign".
4. Symbolic Strike Wammo
[build prof=W/Mo name="Symbolic Strike Wammo" box healing=8 str=12+1+3 smiting=10][Frenzy][Signet of Judgment][Bane Signet][Healing Signet][Symbolic Strike][Vigorous Spirit][Dolyak Signet][Mending][/build] This is an Eye of the North phenomenon. Quite different to any other Wammo we’ve seen so far. This Wammo uses the 0-energy smiting skills to his advantage. [[Ignorance], [[Distracting Shot], [[Complicate] are all good here. His attack is laughable, as this sort of wammo doesn’t believe in meeting his weapon attribute. Simply heal up the damage from his signets, and smash face. Watch him flee, whimpering, with his Tormented Shield between his legs.
5. Healing Hands Wammo
[build prof=W/Mo name="Healing Hands Wammo" box healing=12 str=10+1+3 sword=8+1][Frenzy][Healing Signet][Power Attack][Griffon's Sweep][Leviathan's Sweep][Healing Hands][Healing Breeze][Mending][/build] This is the ultimate in high-tech Wammos. Using Healing Hands is an ability only the bravest of Wammos have access to, because only the bravest manage to make it to Perdition Rock to cap his wondrous elite. Shame it can be countered with [[Shatter Enchantment]. GG Wammo.

|
7. Anti-Wammo Skills
There are several skills through most professions that Wammos love to hate. Let’s evaluate a few of them now.
Monk- [Unyielding Aura] and [Vengeance] – These two valuable resurrection skills can be put to great use for Wammo-control purposes. Shortly after a Wammo dies, using Unyielding Aura can give you a certain level of control over him. If he run in to battle and looks as though he will aggro too much, you can stop maintaining it, and halt him. Vengeance can be used equally as well. This enchantment only gives the Wammo a limited lifespan so serving to minimise the amount of havoc he can create.
- [Life Attunement] - A useful skill for Monks as it allows you to heal the Wammo for more without lessening the amount of damage a Wammo can do. 30% of zero is still zero, right?
- [Pacifism] and [Amity] - Both excellent Wammo shutdown skills, it's just a shame the Wammo on your team will destroy all your good work by attacking them before the hex wears off.
Ranger- [Distracting Shot] – Winds a Wammo up no end when used on [[Healing Signet].
- [Whirling Defense] – Wammos love to hate this skill. Watch them still try to attack you through WD, despite taking damage!
- [Muddy Terrain] – Much loved skill to use against Wammos who over-use [[Sprint].
- [Nature’s Renewal] – Speaks for itself. Causes Wammos twice as long to apply Mending.
- [Throw Dirt] – Blind, always a great Wammo wind-up skill.
- [Pin Down] and [Crippling Shot] – Wammos just love to be crippled! They love the thrill of the chase, no matter how slow they’re forced to go.
Elementalist- [Blinding Surge], [Blinding Flash], and [Eruption] – All good anti-Wammo skills. Watch how many times you get called a “cowardly noob” for blinding the poor fella.
- [Icy Shackles] – use just after [Chilling Winds] on a Mending Wammo for more lulz.
- [Glimmering Mark] – Wammos don’t bother to pay attention to Hexes. Providing they have more “little green up arrows” the “little pink down arrows” are cancelled out, right?
Warriors- [Backbreaker] – Wammos love a lie down. Gives them a couple of seconds to catch up with their thoughts.
Necromancers
Warriors think Necromancers are cool. Well, just so long as they have enough Enchantments to “out-enchant” the Hexes a Necromancer can put on them. Necros are the kings of the undead. Not even a Wammo thinks that’s uncool.
That being said:- [Rip Enchantment] - The bleeding counters the Mending!
- [Insidious Parasite] - Come on, boys, you have to give the poor lil' buggars a chance... Oh well, at least Frenzy doesn't double the lifesteal
- [Enfeebling Blood] - The life sacrifice makes the Wammo believe he's actually hurting you. (Thanks to Rushin Roulette for this)
Paragon
Every time a Wammo cries a Paragon gets nerfed.
Dervish- [Ebon Dust Aura] – Blind, again, always hated by Wammos. They deem it as “unfair play”.
- [Avatar of Balthazar] – It just makes them jealous.
- [Rending Touch] – A Nightmare for Wammos. They fear this skill, especially if it’s coupled with [[Grenth’s Aura].
Assassins- [Horns of the Ox], [Trampling Ox] – As stated before, Wammos love a quick lie down.
- [Blinding Powder] – Again – Unfair. You will be deemed a coward if you Blind a Wammo.
- [Return] – “Noob Runner, Noob Runner!” he’ll shout, while he limps.
Ritualists- [Weapon of Warding], [Weapon of Shadow] – Both irritating for Wammos. Weapon of Shadow annoys them because it blinds, but with Weapon of Warding they genuinely can’t figure out why they can’t hit you.
- [Grasping was Kuurong] – While they like a good knockdown, they find getting help from powdered corpse to be cowardly, and imbalanced.
- [Binding Chains] – Lulz.
- [Disenchantment] – This skill puts immense pressure on a Wammo due to it’s relentless spam of enchantment stripping orbs. So mesmerising yet so deadly.
Mesmers
In the ancient legends of the Wammo homeworld the Mesmer is known as “The Oncoming Storm”.

8. Certified Wammo Hunting Builds
This section will simply lay out some specimen builds which can be tweaked to suit your personal preference, but have been 100% Wammo-disapproved.
EDA Condition Ranger
Quote:
[build prof=R/D name="The Wammo Hunter" box exper=12+1 marks=8+1+2 earthprayers=8 wilderness=7][Apply Poison][Ebon Dust Aura][Keen Arrow][Pin Down][Distracting Shot][Savage Shot][Rending Touch][Whirling Defense][/build]
Expertise: 12 + 1
Marksmanship: 8 + 1 + 2
Earth Prayers: 8
Wilderness Survival: 7 + 1
Use an Ebon Bow (Ebon Bow of Enchanting will help EDA last even longer) and keep the Wammo blind and poisoned. If you notice the Wammo use [[Healing Signet], quickly interrupt with Distracting Shot. Use Pin Down to help anyone on your team try to kite the Wammo, and use Whirling Defense if he attacks you (remember to “/point” and “/laugh” while Whirling Defense is active). Use Rending Touch to annoy him, but beware as it will also strip EDA.
|
Standard Cripshot
Quote:
[build prof=R name="Cripshot" box marksmanship=9+1 expertise=12+1+1 wilder=9+1][Apply Poison][Crippling Shot][Distracting Shot][Savage Shot][No Skill][Antidote Signet][Troll Unguent][Natural Stride][/build]
Marksmanship: 9 + 1
Expertise: 12 + 1 + 1
Wilderness Survival: 9 + 1
Keep the preparation up as much as possible. Use Natural Stride as much as possible to run around the battlefield, and Troll Unguent as a self-heal. Antidote Signet can be used to clear Blind, though this can be replaced with [Mending Touch] to remove a wider variety of conditions. On a side note, Mending Touch is also affected by Expertise in that it's energy cost is reduced.
Ensure to keep Wammos cripples as much as possible for maximum irritation
The Optional Slot could be [Rending Touch], [Throw Dirt].

~~More Builds may be added at a later date.~~

9. End Notes
Hope you all got something out of this guide, even if it was just a chuckle. Please don’t take it too seriously or criticise it too heavily.

You've got the Wammo Riposte Spammer wrong. They prefer [gladiator's defense].
As for wammo hunting with a Ranger, i prefer [crippling shot] over [ebon dust aura]. I managed to start off a "wammo conga" once in AB with that skill, where i had 3 of them and a monk chasing me around the map, which gave our a team a great advantage as it was 11 vs 8.
Also, HOW COULD YOU FORGET [dolyak signet] ?????
